Redwood Park Elementary Approved: A Major Step Forward for South Surrey Families

Exciting news for families in South Surrey! The long-awaited Redwood Park Elementary school project has officially received government approval, bringing the vision for a modern new school one step closer to reality.

Located at 17390 20 Ave., the upcoming Redwood Park Elementary is set to be built near the well-loved Redwood Park, a landmark known for its forest trails and towering trees. The school will feature 37 classrooms, addressing the growing demand for education infrastructure in the rapidly expanding South Surrey area.

The school’s name was chosen through a public process launched in 2021. After receiving over 200 submissions from the community, the name “Redwood Park Elementary” emerged as the clear favorite. At the April 9 public school board meeting, Deputy Superintendent Andrew Holland emphasized the significance of the name, highlighting the park’s value to the community and its natural beauty.

While the exact construction timeline and opening date are still to be confirmed, the project’s approval signals major progress. Former Education Minister Rachna Singh reaffirmed the province’s commitment to the school in March 2024, ahead of the upcoming provincial election.
